How it works
How Easy Chicken Club works
We turn small-scale commercial farmers into a coordinated production system — at scale. Today that starts with records, advice and buying together. Next comes the Easy Chicken Hub.
Why farming alone is so hard
Small-scale commercial broiler chicken farmers are locked out of the formal poultry market, not because they’re incapable, but because the system around them is broken.
Farmers operate in isolation. They lack reliable, affordable inputs, technical support and formal markets. The result is high production costs, inconsistent production and unstable income.
This isn’t a farmer problem. It’s a system failure.
Today: buying together through coordinated procurement
Easy Chicken Club powers group buying. By buying together, farmers gain access to trusted suppliers and reliable poultry inputs.
How a request works
- Plan or request. Plan your placements in the Easy Chicken App with Book my year, or add what you need in the Easy Chicken Shop. There are no prices yet.
- Send it to ECC. Tap Send to ECC for a quotation, or Submit quotation request.
- We combine requests. We put your request together with other farmers’ and get prices and availability from our trusted supply partners.
- You get a quotation. In the app and on WhatsApp: each item, delivery and the total, with VAT included, and the date it’s valid until.
- Accept and pay. Accept the quotation, pay by EFT with the reference shown, and tap I’ve paid.
- We deliver. We check your payment, order from the supplier and deliver to your farm.
What you can request
Day-old broiler chicks · Feed · Vaccines · Supplements · Disinfectants and hygiene · Litter · Small equipment and tools
Good to know
- South Africa only, for now. Farmers in other countries can still plan their placements in the app.
- Book early. Availability can’t be guaranteed. Booking a year ahead improves availability and helps ECC secure the best prices for your flock.
- Why there are no prices on this website. Prices change often and differ from area to area, so you get them in your quotation, after we’ve checked suppliers near you.
- Problems with a delivery? See our Returns Policy.
Why buying together works
We initially assumed that technical support was the main thing farmers needed. But farmers consistently told us that they often can’t buy directly from major suppliers, because they aren’t VAT registered and their individual demand is too small. As a network, this is solved.
- Combined demand. One farm’s order is small. Many farms’ orders together are worth a supplier’s attention.
- One VAT-registered buyer. Easy Chicken Club buys on behalf of the network.
- Planned ahead. When farmers book their year, suppliers can plan too, and chicks are easier to secure.
- Delivered to your farm.
Others optimise parts of the value chain. We coordinate the whole system.
From one farm to a coordinated network
- Record. Every flock in the Easy Chicken App, with MamaG’s advice. Today.
- Buy together. Coordinated procurement of chicks, feed, vaccines and more. Today, in South Africa.
- Grow with a hub. A local hub that supplies chicks, processes chickens and sells them. Coming soon.
Our model starts with coordinated input procurement. Next, we’ll test a local processing and distribution hub, and then grow through franchised hubs.
Coming soon
The Easy Chicken Hub: the next evolution of Easy Chicken Club
An Easy Chicken Hub will be a franchised poultry production and distribution centre that coordinates a group of small-scale commercial farmers in one area. It’s designed to give them the scale, consistency and market access of a large poultry business.
None of it is running yet. This is what we’re building next.
Hatchery
A small-scale hatchery that will supply day-old chicks to the hub’s farmers, for reliable supply and better biosecurity.
Abattoir
A modular, containerised abattoir shared by the hub’s farmers, so they can sell into formal markets instead of selling live chickens only.
Distribution
Easy Chicken Club will run shared distribution on behalf of the hubs: to wholesale, retail, food service, institutions and households.
Chicken outlets
Outlets co-owned with the hub, selling fresh and frozen chicken and grilled chicken meals.
Who will own a hub
A group of farmers, or a local agripreneur who contracts small-scale commercial farmers and buys their chickens. Easy Chicken Club provides the system: the app, coordinated procurement, the brand and shared distribution.
What a hub is designed for
- About 21 contracted farmers
- Around 1 million kg of chicken a year
- About 60 jobs
Built with circularity in mind
Modular buildings, solar power for chicken houses and hubs, and waste turned into value.
We’ll test the first hub before we grow. Want to know when it’s ready, or bring a hub to your community?
